Back by popular demand is Temple Beth Sholom’s Scholar in Residence, Dr. Stephen Berk. Through the generosity of The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, Dr. Berk will speak about “The Middle East in Crisis.” No other geographic or cultural region of the world faces more on-going turmoil than the Middle East. In his presentation, Dr. Berk will analyze the ongoing changes to the Middle East’s political landscape and share the implications for Israel and the Arab and Muslim states in the region.

Dr. Berk is a spell-binding lecturer and addresses the most complex issues in a manner that clarifies them to an audience of individuals with varied knowledge and experiences. He is always informative, interesting, and entertaining. His lectures are outstanding, and he is in high demand as a guest speaker. Professor Berk has written several books and numerous articles on topics ranging from European Jewry and pogroms to his most current work in progress: American Jewry and the Struggle for Civil Rights.
